Whitley Park
Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom
Formerly: Blue Flames Sports Ground, Blue Flames Sporting Club
The Northumberland Football Association handed its headquarters to a new site in Benton in 2003. It is not a stadium in the traditional sense; it is a sports and leisure complex that has absorbed several tenants over the years.
For more than a decade, the ground was home to West Allotment Celtic F.C. before they moved elsewhere in 2017. The site now hosts the Newcastle United Under-21 and Under-23 teams, who rent the pitch for Premier League 2 matches. Those days are behind the club, but the ground remains in use.
The Northumberland FA is scheduled to handed over the keys at the end of the 2023/24 season, moving to a new facility in Wallsend. Newcastle United plans to expand its training operations into the existing buildings, potentially turning the former offices into a media hub.
The ground is often referred to as the Blue Flames Sports Ground, a name that stuck from a British Gas sponsorship that ended years ago.
