WIRmachenDRUCK Arena
The ground in Großaspach carries three names in its short life, and that alone tells the story: what opened in August 2011 as comtechArena became mechatronikArena in 2014, then took its current sponsor's name, WIRmachenDRUCK Arena, in 2019. Underneath the rebranding sits the same rebuilt Sportpark Fautenhau, and the identity that has stayed constant is the club it was built for — SG Sonnenhof Großaspach has played there since the gates opened.
What sets the place apart is who paid for it. The roughly €10.2 million project was covered by a group of twelve private investors rather than a municipal budget, and the names among them read like a football and music who's who: singer Andrea Berg, and footballers Alexander Hleb and Mario Gomez put money into a ground for a club playing well below the level either of them reached as players.
Since the 2024/25 season the arena has also hosted VfB Stuttgart II, who moved their fixtures there after winning promotion to the 2. Bundesliga — a small stadium in a village of a few thousand people suddenly staging reserve-team football for one of the country's established Bundesliga clubs.
