Woollahra Oval

Sydney, Australia

Formerly: Andrew Petrie Oval

Woollahra Oval sits quietly on Manion Avenue. It is not the biggest venue in Sydney. The land was taken up by the council in 1923, and the George Grimley Pavilion followed soon after.

The pitch itself is modern. In 2016 the old grass gave way to a synthetic surface. The work cost $1.5 million and the turf holds FIFA and World Rugby certification. It opened for play in 2018.

Eastern Suburbs District Rugby Union Football Club call this their home. They have stayed since. The team, known as the Beasties, have won the Shute Shield premiership many times, with their most recent success in 2024. Sydney University Football Club and Woollahra Colleagues also use the ground. On weekends the oval hosts NSW Premier Cricket matches for the Eastern Suburbs Cricket Club.

There is a grandstand that holds 5,000 people. In October 2026 the venue will host the inaugural Kick On 7s festival, bringing Australian sevens teams against New Zealand and Fiji.

The ground has seen different seasons.
