It opened on 15 February 2006, built on time for the IIHF World Championship. The capacity is not a single number.
The place has been a home for Dinamo Riga in the KHL since 2008. The team left in 2022, but the Latvia Men's National Ice Hockey Team is still here, along with the national basketball sides and BC VEF Rīga, who arrived in 2009.
Metallica played two nights on 17 and 18 April 2010, drawing 12,000 people to a 360-degree stage. Depeche Mode, Scorpions, Rammstein and Ed Sheeran have all been here too. It was Arēna Rīga until January 2025, when the naming rights passed to Xiaomi.
