Yichun Sports Center

The roof came down in 2023. Inspectors classified it a D-level structure — the grade reserved for severe structural hazard — and it was demolished rather than repaired. When a resident later asked the Yichun Education and Sports Bureau to put a new one up, the bureau said the load limits of what remains would not carry it. So the Yichun Sports Center stays open to the sky, and it will stay that way after the current work is finished.

That work was scheduled to complete in May 2026 and touches nearly everything except the roofline: safety facilities repaired, event rooms redone, network communications and security monitoring upgraded, high-voltage capacity expanded. Roughly 18,000 seats are being pulled out and replaced with eco-friendly ones. The pitch is being rebuilt to competition standard on natural turf with a smart irrigation system, and four groups of high-mast lights are going in.

The ground sits on the eastern section of Yuan Shan Avenue in Yuanzhou District and belongs to Yichun Jiangwu Weihu, of China League 2; it staged an FA Cup tie against Qingdao Youth Island in May 2023. Its largest night, though, was not football. On 16 September 2011 Jacky Cheung played here on the "1/2 Century" tour, marking his fiftieth birthday and closing the Fifth Moon Festival, with audio-visual equipment costed at around 60 million yuan.
