Ynyshir Oval

The Oval sits in Ynyshir, a village strung along the floor of the Rhondda Valley. Locals and travelling supporters alike call it either Ynyshir Oval or, more often, simply The Oval.

What sets it apart from the other municipal pitches scattered through Rhondda Cynon Taf is the arrangement behind it. The playing surface belongs to Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council; Ynyshir Albions Community Club Ltd holds it on a lease running two decades. That structure is why the club has stayed put since it came into being in 1992, when several village sides — Wattstown, Ynyshir Rangers, Ynyshir Albion and Ynyshir United among them — appear to have been drawn together into a single club. The Oval was its home from the first season and has remained so.

The pitch is grass. Nothing bigger has passed through: no senior international fixture, no concert. The busier days come from the JD Welsh Cup, which periodically drops a larger visitor into the valley. In 2019–20 the tie ended 7–3 to Cambrian and Clydach Vale BGC. Pendarren BGC came in 2022, and Llanelli Town in August 2025.

No record attendance has ever been logged. The one figure that survives from recent years is 380, for the visit of Barry Town United in April 2023.
