Yugra Arena

Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia

The Yugra Arena has color-dynamic boards lining the playing surface and a suspended multi-profile media cube hanging above the ice, ready to display information during a match.

This is a venue where the game is played on artificial ice, a surface that requires specific maintenance but allows for consistent conditions regardless of the season. The arena has hosted significant events, including the ice hockey matches for the 2019 XVIII Winter Deaflympics. It has also seen high-stakes domestic competitions, such as the VHL Cup of Petrov Final, where the local team, HC Yugra, defeated Metallurg Novokuznetsk in a decisive fifth game. The relationship between the club and the community is evident in the attendance figures; the house has held a sell-out crowd of 5,500 spectators for these crucial playoff encounters.

The facility opened in November 2008, following construction work that began the previous year. While HC Yugra has played here since moving in 2009, their presence in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) ended after the 2014–15 campaign, and they subsequently returned to the Supreme Hockey League (VHL). The arena has also welcomed figure skating shows, such as Ilya Averbukh's "Professionals" in 2012, bringing a different kind of performance to the ice. Despite these varied uses, the core function remains focused on hockey, with the pitch cut up only by the skates of athletes competing for victory.
