ZELPO Aréna

The name is younger than the ground: Kolkáreň stayed on the gates until 22 August 2015, when the club unveiled the rebuilt stand as ZELPO Aréna. The old tag survives on maps and in older records as Štadión Podbrezová-Kolkáreň, a reminder that Železiarne Podbrezová built its home around the ironworks that gave the club its own name, not around a town of any great size.

What changed in 2012–2015 was structural, not cosmetic — the reconstruction gave the ground its current shape before the rebrand followed. The pitch itself has had a second life since: relaid in 2015 with the rebuild, then redone again in 2023 using Fibresand™, a sand-reinforced turf system rather than a simple reseeding.

For a ground holding 4,000, that is two documented turf replacements in under a decade — more attention to the surface than most clubs at this level bother recording. The address, Kolkáreň 58, still points to the works district that named the old stadium, even though the sign over the entrance has read something else for over ten years now.
