The northern stand at the ZTE Arena stood empty from 2008, closed on safety grounds, and stayed that way until ZÁÉV Zrt. finished work here in March 2017. That job roofed all four stands, reworked the club house, the VIP sector and the ZTE shop, and set the ground at 11,200.

What the ground holds as a number and what the site has held are different things. The record on this plot is 22,000, from 22 October 1972, ZTE against Újpesti Dózsa — the stadium of that year, not this one. That earlier ground itself sat on older ground: a MOVE sports field, in use before 1945, later the Dózsa-pálya. The 2002 arena replaced the 1972 stadium; the address did not move.

Zalaegerszegi TE play here. The Hungary national team has come when it suited — Japan in 2004, Slovenia in 2008 — and the ground took on a second tenant it had no part in choosing: from 2024 the Belarus national team played home fixtures in Zalaegerszeg, under UEFA sanctions that put their matches outside Belarus. The building has also worked outside football; Ákos played it in 2015.

ZTE won the Magyar Kupa in 2010. The final was played elsewhere.
