About the player
Andrés Mena came through at Independiente del Valle, reaching the first team in 2019 and forming part of the squad that lifted the 2019 Copa Sudamericana against Colón de Santa Fe, although he was not on the pitch for the final itself. A move to Chile's Rangers followed in 2021, but it produced no official appearances, and he was sent out on loan to Atlético Santo Domingo instead, where he scored twice in ten games in the Ecuadorian Serie B.
His career found firmer footing back home. At El Nacional in 2022 he made 25 league appearances and scored once as the club won the Serie B title. A year at 9 de Octubre followed before he returned to El Nacional for the step up to Serie A, where his involvement grew from a handful of appearances in 2024 to 15 league games and a goal in 2025.
El Nacional's relegation at the end of that season left Mena a free agent, and in January 2026 he signed for SD Aucas. A left-footed defensive midfielder, he has yet to add a senior or youth cap for Ecuador to his record.
