Diego Ángel Luna

Diego Luna signed for Real Salt Lake in June 2022 in a deal reported at $250,000, a USL record fee at the time, arriving from El Paso Locomotive FC. He had made his name at El Paso, scoring 13 goals in 41 USL Championship appearances and finishing as runner-up for Young Player of the Year after a place on the 2021 All-League Second Team. Before that, his path ran through the Palo Alto SC and San Jose Earthquakes academies before he moved to the Barça Residency Academy in Arizona. After a brief spell with the reserve side Real Monarchs, he pushed into Real Salt Lake's first team, where he now plays as a left midfielder and has made 111 league appearances, scoring 27 goals.

His breakthrough came in 2024, when he won the MLS Young Player of the Year award after recording 8 goals and 12 assists. That season he became the first Real Salt Lake player to record three assists in multiple matches, and the second player in MLS history to reach 20 goal contributions before turning 21.

Luna has also established himself internationally, earning 18 caps for the United States and scoring 4 goals as of May 2026. He was a key player at the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup, helping the US reach the final and earning a place in the Tournament Best XI. Despite that form, he was not selected for the final 26-man roster for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
