About the player
Tyler Boyd grew up playing for Olé Football Academy and Melville United in New Zealand before moving through Waikato FC to a professional debut with Wellington Phoenix. From there he took the well-worn route to Portugal, joining Vitória de Guimarães in 2015, interrupted by a loan spell at Tondela. A move to Turkey followed, first on loan at MKE Ankaragücü and then a permanent switch to Beşiktaş in 2019 for a reported fee of €2.4 million, with further loans at Sivasspor and Çaykur Rizespor.
Boyd's international story carries its own twist. He came through New Zealand's youth ranks and won five senior caps for the All Whites, before switching allegiance to the United States in May 2019. He made his USMNT debut that June and, at the Gold Cup that summer, scored twice against Guyana. He has since earned ten caps and two goals for his adopted country.
Los Angeles FC claimed him off waivers in January 2026.
