The green-and-white colours in Konya trace back to 1981, when Konyaspor merged with Konya İdmanyurdu. The U19 side sits underneath that senior structure, training and often playing at the Murat Kurum Tesisleri rather than the 42,000-seat Konya Büyükşehir Belediye Stadyumu, and it carries the same Double-Headed Eagles nickname as the first team.
The team's clearest mark on the record books came in the 2011-12 season, when it won the U19 Türkiye Şampiyonası, beating İstanbul Esenlerspor 3-1 in the final. There is no fixture the players call a derby.
What the academy is really judged on, though, is who comes out the other end of it. Abdülkerim Bardakcı is the name attached to that pipeline now.
