Al Ahli Stadium
Doha, Qatar
Formerly: Khalifa bin Hamad Stadium
The ground sits in **Nuaija**. It is the home of **Al Ahli SC**, an institution in Qatar that was founded in 1950. The club used to play elsewhere, but they moved here when the stadium opened in 1976. The capacity is often cited as 18,000 after a renovation in 2015. The pitch itself is natural grass. The original name was **Khalifa bin Hamad Stadium**, but it was later renamed after Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. The ground hosted the final of the 1988 **AFC Asian Cup**, where Saudi Arabia defeated South Korea on penalties. It is also used by **Al-Sailiya SC**. The club’s office is on **Rawdat Al Khail St**. The club has a website at alahli.qa. The **QSL** uses it for their matches. The stadium was refurbished in 2014 by Al-Balagh Trading & Contracting Co. WLL. It is a place where the game is played, not just watched. The club has not won the league in a long time.
