Warri Township Stadium

Warri Township Stadium sits on Cemetery Road in the Effurun area. While the official capacity stands at 20,000, the ground has seen crowds of 25,000 pack into the stands.

The facility opened in 1998, though some accounts point to a later rebuild under the administration of Governor James Ibori in 2001. It is a natural grass pitch. The structure is state-owned, managed by the Delta State Sports Commission, and serves as the home for Warri Wolves F.C.

Its most significant moment arrived not through success, but through cancellation. The stadium was renovated for the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup, only to be removed from the list of host venues due to violence and unrest in the region. The tournament moved to other Nigerian cities. Instead, it hosted the final of the 2006 African Women's Championship on November 11, 2006. Nigeria defeated Ghana 1–0 in front of a crowd that exceeded the official limit.

Political rallies and local matches fill the calendar between these events. The name “Warri City Stadium” is used interchangeably, a label born of common practice rather than an official sponsor rename.
