The ground on Xinhua Road has outlived the club it was best known for. Wuhan Zall — a side that also played under the names Wuhan FC and Wuhan Yangtze River FC — used it as a home ground until the club was dissolved in January 2023. Hubei Istar F.C. moved in the same year and has played there since.
Its usefulness has always run wider than one tenant. The site holds a running track around the pitch and a badminton hall alongside it.
The AFC has twice sent age-group women's football here. Wuhan staged the AFC U-19 Women's Championship in 2009 and came back for the AFC U-16 Women's Championship in 2015.
The ground sits in Jianghan District, in the older commercial heart of Wuhan.
