Zirineio (Municipal Stadium of Kifissia "Zirineio")

The ground exists because one man bought the land. Ioannis Zirinis, a tobacco merchant from Thrace, stepped in when the local authorities in Kifissia could not secure a site, then paid for the construction that followed. Work started in 1929 and finished in May 1932, and the stadium opened on 7 May of that year carrying his name — the first ground in Greece named after an individual.

The full title is still the Ioannis Zirinis Municipal Stadium, though everyone uses the shorter form, Zirineio. It is a small, two-sided arrangement: a main stand along the north side and a smaller section opposite for visiting supporters, with the grass pitch between them.

Its tenant arrived long after the builders did. A.E. Kifisia was formed in 2012 out of a merger between A.O. Kifisia, whose roots run back to the same year the stadium opened, and A.O.K. Elpidoforos, founded in 1968. The club has used the ground for Greek Cup ties and Super League 2 fixtures, and it was here, on 11 June 2023, that the match against Kalamata secured promotion to the first division.

Football is not the only thing played on the site. The facility is run by Gymnastikos Syllogos Kifissia and also hosts volleyball for local sides, among them ZAON Kifissia and AON Zirinios.
