Acsgerdorf and Linz met in the Handball Liga Austria on Saturday evening, with the visitors claiming a 29:35 victory in a match that kept the standings largely unchanged. Both sides came into the fixture sitting near the foot of the table, each carrying two draws from two games and zero points.
The home side had hoped to build on their recent form, having drawn their opening two matches against Aon Fайверс Маргаретен and Барнбах/К. before that. Linz, meanwhile, arrived with a similar record after losing to Брегенц and Ферлах in their previous outings.
And here's the thing — when two teams with identical points and positions meet, you expect a tight contest. The final scoreline suggests Linz were the sharper side, but the margin was never large enough to separate them dramatically. By then, both clubs remained locked in the lower reaches of the table.
The standings tell the same story for both: twelve points apiece after two rounds, though Acsgerdorf sit 12th while Linz occupy 11th. Neither side has tasted victory yet, and the gap between them and the top half remains substantial.
To be fair, this is early in the campaign. Both teams have drawn their first two games, which suggests they are finding their rhythm rather than collapsing. The result means Linz maintain their slight advantage in the standings, but the real work lies ahead for both clubs.
