Dudelange — Diekirch: 37:30, AXA League

Dudelange beat Diekirch 37-30 in the AXA League on Saturday evening. The result keeps the hosts in fifth place with two points from two games, while Diekirch remain eighth on zero points after two draws.

We had tipped the home side to win, and the scoreline confirmed that call. Dudelange held their nerve in the final minutes to secure the two points they needed.

The visitors had shown resilience in their opening fixtures, drawing both matches so far. But this time they could not find a way past a home side that refused to let the lead slip.

Dudelange's recent form has been mixed, with three losses in their last five outings. They had lost to Paox on both occasions they faced them, and also fell to Ash and Standard. The draw against Standard had kept them in contention, but victory was essential here.

Diekirch's unbeaten run had been built on draws rather than wins. Their last results included defeats to Rumlange and Berchem, but two consecutive draws gave them hope. They camped in the final third for long spells, but could not convert pressure into goals.

The win extends Dudelange's unbeaten run to three games across all competitions. They now sit two points clear of the teams below them, though the gap remains tight at the bottom of the table.
