Flensburg-Handewitt secured a convincing 36-27 victory over Steaua Bucuresti in the European League EHF on Tuesday evening.
The Danish side moved to the top of their group with a commanding display at home. The result extends their unbeaten run to five matches across all competitions.
Before the match, Flensburg-Handewitt sat first in the table with four points from two games. Steaua had accumulated just one point from their opening fixtures, including a draw against Aguias Santos. The final scoreline reflected the disparity in form between the two sides.
Flensburg-Handewitt have won their last two matches, beating Hannover-Burgdorf 39-32 and Aguias Santos 36-22. They also secured victories against Göppingen and Granollers in previous rounds. Steaua, meanwhile, have drawn once and lost once, failing to find their rhythm.
The away side lost 31-37 to Granollers in their most recent outing and drew 30-30 with Aguias Santos before that. Their 29-35 defeat against Vaslui and 28-33 loss to Dinamo Bucuresti completed a difficult start.
Flensburg-Handewitt's victory keeps them clear at the summit of the standings. Steaua remain in third place with one point, their campaign still to turn around.
