IK Sävehof — Hammarby IF: 30:24, Handbollsligan

IK Sävehof took a 30:24 victory over Hammarby IF on 2 October at the Handbollsligan fixture, defying the odds at home. The result was unexpected, given that Hammarby had arrived with momentum from their recent draw. And here's the thing — the scoreboard told a different story than anyone anticipated.

We had backed the visitors at 55 per cent confidence, but the match did not unfold as forecast. By then it was clear that Sävehof's intensity at home had shifted the balance. The prediction simply missed the mark, and the table will reflect that now.

Sävehof move to two points from one game, sitting eighth in the standings. Hammarby remain on two points after two outings, sharing the same tally but in sixth place. To be fair, the gap between them means little so early in the campaign.

Sävehof's recent results show a side that has been scoring freely, with victories over Seseete, Onnereds and Jädraås. Hammarby's form has been mixed — a win against Hallby but a heavy defeat to Elverum and a narrow loss to Kristianstad. By then you could see that the momentum was not in their favour.

The result keeps the league wide open and reminds you that handball at this level can turn on a single half. Both sides still have games to play, but the early table tells us nothing definitive yet.
