Nantes — Caen Handball: 38:31, Starligue

Nantes beat Caen 38:31 in the Starligue on October 11th, 2026. The home side kept their unbeaten record intact, moving to eight points from five games. Caen remain on six points after five matches as well, though they sit ninth rather than second.

We had called for a Nantes victory beforehand, 72 per cent confidence. The result confirmed that reading — the hosts were always the side to beat at home. Caen pushed hard but could not find the breakthrough when it mattered.

Nantes sit second in the table with four wins and one draw. Caen have three wins and two draws, also without a defeat. Both sides are still chasing the top spot, but the gap between them and anyone ahead is closing.

The recent form of both teams suggested this would be a close affair. Nantes had won four of their last five, including a 36:31 scoreline over Montpellier. Caen's last five included three wins, with only two losses — one to Provence-Aix and another to Limoges.

The result means Nantes stay in the hunt for the championship, while Caen keep their own ambitions alive. Eight points versus six — the difference is narrow, and the season is still wide open.
