Alvaro Augusto

Álvaro Augusto's route to Major League Soccer ran through two other countries before he ever kicked a ball for FC Dallas. Born in Gramado, Brazil, the defender left home early for France, where he came through the youth ranks at USM Saran. He then moved on to Portugal, joining Portimonense's under-23 side in August 2024, where he holds dual Brazilian and Portuguese citizenship. In his first season in the Liga Revelação he made 14 appearances and opened his scoring account against Mafra, though a step up to Portimonense's senior team in Liga Portugal 2 never came.

FC Dallas signed him from Portimonense in February 2025, with reports describing the move without disclosing a fee, on a three-year contract running through 2027 with club options for two further years. He occupies one of the club's international roster slots. Augusto made his MLS debut on 14 June 2025 against Sporting Kansas City, and he has also been used regularly by North Texas SC, Dallas's MLS Next Pro affiliate, where he has started often and contributed a goal along with several assists.

His development has followed a steady progression through age-group and reserve football in three countries, and at 20 he is still in the early stages of establishing himself at senior professional level in the United States.
