Bernard Kamungo

Kamungo's official date of birth is an administrative placeholder; his actual birthday is unknown. He was born in the Nyarugusu Refugee Camp to Congolese refugee parents and holds dual citizenship of the United States and Tanzania. He immigrated to Abilene, Texas, in 2017 at the age of 14, attending Abilene High School before turning professional.

He joined North Texas SC, FC Dallas's affiliate side, in March 2021 after an open tryout. Across 50 appearances for the club he scored 21 goals and was named to the 2022 MLS NEXT Pro Best XI. He made his MLS debut that September and has since signed a contract extension running through the 2027/2028 season.

He scored his first career brace in a 4-1 win over LA Galaxy on 21 October 2023, a result that helped clinch a playoff spot for the club.

He made his senior debut for the United States Men's National Team against Slovenia in January 2024, having previously featured for the US Under-23 Olympic squad in 2023. He remains eligible for Tanzania and was called up by the country in June 2023, but passport issues meant he never played for them at senior level, and his subsequent US citizenship settled the matter.
