About the player
Hannah Claire Betfort took the long way into the National Women's Soccer League. She joined Wake Forest University as a walk-on, then spent a summer playing for Charleston Fleet FC in the Women's Premier Soccer League before turning professional. Her breakthrough came with the Portland Thorns, where she was part of the squad that won the 2022 NWSL Championship, featuring as a substitute in preseason matches against the U.S. U-23 Women's Youth National Team.
The Utah Royals selected Betfort with the 33rd overall pick in the 2024 NWSL Draft, and she made her professional debut with the club that year. She scored against Gotham FC and the Portland Thorns during the 2024 season.
She became a free agent after the season and signed a short-term contract with the North Carolina Courage for 2025, making her debut in the home opener against the Seattle Reign. She has also found the net against Portland Thorns while wearing Courage colours.
Betfort plays as a forward, stands 180cm tall and is right-footed. She has not been capped by the United States at senior or youth international level.
