Julián Alberto Velázquez

Julián Alberto Velázquez has now worn the number 22 shirt in five countries. The Corrientes-born defender came through the youth ranks at Independiente and stayed long enough to become part of the squad's biggest recent triumph: he scored the opening goal in the second leg of the 2010 Copa Sudamericana final against Goiás, helping the club lift the trophy. A single cap for the Argentina national team followed in 2011, a brief entry in an otherwise club-heavy career.

After Independiente, Velázquez left on a free transfer to Palermo in Italy, and from there his career turned into a long series of loans and moves rather than settled spells: Gaz Metan Mediaș in Romania, Hajduk Split in Croatia, then a longer run in Mexican football with Cruz Azul, Tijuana and Querétaro. He returned to Argentina for single seasons with Talleres and Rosario Central before heading back across the Atlantic to Bolivia, where he joined Jorge Wilstermann in 2023.

Since leaving Wilstermann in 2024, his path has covered even more ground: a season with PSBS Biak in Indonesia, a short stint at Chacarita Juniors in Argentina's Primera Nacional, and now a return to Bolivia with Aurora. Free transfers have been the constant thread linking one stop to the next.
