About the player
Jeferson Medina grew up in Sarmiento Lora's youth ranks before joining Fortaleza CEIF's academy in 2022. He started with the club's under-17 side, and by 2023 he was captain of that team, a run that ended with a final appearance against Atlético Nacional in which he scored. The performances earned him a place in training sessions with Colombia's under-17 national team.
Medina moved up to the under-19 squad in 2024, playing above his age group and starting 15 matches despite being younger than most of his teammates. That season he also spent time on loan at Houston Dynamo 2 in MLS NEXT Pro, where he made his debut before returning to Fortaleza.
Back at the Colombian club for 2025, the centre-back was gradually integrated into the first-team squad. He has since featured for Fortaleza in the Categoría Primera A and in the Copa Colombia, including starts against Jaguares de Córdoba and Deportivo Pasto. At 185 cm, he offers the physical profile typical of a modern central defender, and he now wears the number 5 shirt for the senior side.
