About the player
When Nicholas Simmonds scored on his professional debut for the Richmond Kickers on 30 August 2023, he became the youngest goalscorer in the club's history. He had signed with the USL League One side on an academy contract the previous month, and he went on to spend the 2023 and 2024 seasons in Richmond before stepping into college soccer.
His single season with the Virginia Cavaliers in 2025 saw him score ten goals and provide five assists, earning him ACC Freshman of the Year. He made his MLS debut on 18 April 2026 in a 2–2 draw with LA Galaxy, and by the end of May had four league appearances to his name, still waiting on his first senior goal.
Born in Midlothian, Virginia, Simmonds qualifies for Jamaica through heritage and has represented the country at senior level, having been called into the squad for the Unity Cup in London in May 2026. He had previously been capped at United States U-20 level, called up in January 2026.
