About the player
Óscar Antonio Castellanos Santos came through the Antigua GFC academy and made his professional debut with the first team in the 2017–18 season. He has spent his whole career at the club aside from two loan spells.
His first taste of silverware came early, winning the Liga Nacional with Antigua GFC in the Apertura 2017 and again in the Clausura 2019. In 2020 he went out on loan to Deportivo Mixco for the Clausura tournament, then joined Xelajú MC for the Apertura 2020 and Clausura 2021 before returning to Antigua GFC in 2021, where he settled back into the starting eleven.
Castellanos made his senior international debut for Guatemala in a friendly against Puerto Rico in January 2021. He has since become a fixture in the national side, passing 50 caps and scoring three goals for La Bicolor. His form at continental level was recognised when he was named to the Concacaf Best XI for the semifinals of the 2024 Concacaf Central American Cup.
The high point of his career so far came at the end of 2025, when Antigua GFC beat CSD Municipal 2-1 on aggregate in the final to win the Liga Nacional Apertura 2025. Castellanos was part of the squad that carried that title home.
