About the player
Sem Steijn arrived at Feyenoord for a club-record fee, with a base reported at €10 million and add-ons taking the total towards €11–12 million, and signed a four-year contract. He scored 24 goals and set up 7 more in the Eredivisie in 2024–25, took the Willy van der Kuijlen Trophy as the league's top scorer and was named Eredivisie Player of the Year. He had also been named Player of the Month in September 2024 as that season built.
His route there was not straightforward. He came through SV KMD before joining the ADO Den Haag academy in 2011 and signed his first professional contract there in 2018. A loan at VVV-Venlo in the 2018–19 season brought only three appearances, but one of them produced a goal that made him the club's youngest-ever Eredivisie scorer at the time.
At Feyenoord he took over the number 14 shirt previously worn by Igor Paixão. He made his senior debut for the Oranje on 7 September 2025 against Lithuania.
