Abu Qair Semad enters the Egyptian Premier League for the first time in its history this season, a step up secured in May 2026 after finishing third in the 2024–25 Egyptian Second Division A on 58 points, with the final matchday win over Raya Ghazl Kafr El Dawar settling the campaign.

The club was set up in 1987 by the Abu Qir Fertilizers and Chemicals Industries Company, and for decades it stayed in the lower reaches of Egyptian football.

Amir Azmi Mujahed had the job of steering the promotion campaign, taking over a squad built in part around loan and transfer arrivals such as Ziad Shaker from Pyramids FC and Emad Fathy from Smouha SC.

Alexandria already has its derby traditions, built around Al Ittihad Alexandria and Al Olympi, and Abu Qair Semad's matches against Al Ittihad now get folded into that same rivalry, even though the club's own history in the city's top flight has yet to be written. Orange remains the shirt colour at home, blue on the road.
