She was part of the squad that took this side to the final of the very first FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship in 2002, played on home soil, where Canada lost to the United States in extra time. The programme has since sent on Jessie Fleming, Kadeisha Buchanan, Ashley Lawrence and Janine Beckie, among others, to the senior team.
Canada has come out on top in the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship three times, in 2004, 2008 and 2025, and Mexico has supplied the other recurring test in the region. Since the world championship began, Canada has missed the finals only twice, in 2010 and 2018.
Cindy Tye has coached the team since October 2021. The squad plays as "The Canucks" in English and "Les Rouges" in French, in red shirts and white shorts.
