Heist

Heist go into this season having just come up as champions of the Tweede Afdeling VV B, a jump managed under Maarten Van Campenhout, whose work in that campaign earned him the club's 'Golden Swan' award.

The club has never held a national title. What sits in the cabinet are provincial ones: First Provincial Antwerp champions in 1984/85, 1996/97 and 2002/03, and, further back, Third Provincial Antwerp champions in 1942/43. Cup football has occasionally put them across from Standard Liège and Union SG.

The green, white and blue kit is not the one the club started in. It was adopted from the municipality of Heist-op-den-Berg after a 1995 merger between FC Heist Sportief and KSV Heist-op-den-Berg produced the KSK Heist that exists now; Sportief itself had played in purple and white. Five years before that merger, in 1990, the club had already been granted the royal prefix, becoming Koninklijke Sportkring Heist. Lyra-Lierse still carry the old regional weight, matches known locally as the 'streekderby'.

The line back to 1940 runs through the name FC Heist-Sportief, the club Heist-op-den-Berg first built its football around before any of the mergers, prefixes or colour changes that followed.
