Runcorn Linnets

When Runcorn F.C. Halton collapsed under financial difficulties and resigned from the Northern Premier League, it was the club's own supporters who refused to let the town go without a team. On 28 April 2006 the Supporters Trust founded a phoenix club, taking the nickname the Linnets from a side whose roots ran back to 1918 as Highfield & Camden Tanneries Recreation Club.

For four years the new club had nowhere of its own, ground-sharing with Witton Albion at Wincham Park while the "Return 2 Runcorn" project found its feet, before settling at the Millbank Linnets Stadium in 2010. This season brought another shared arrangement, at the APEC Taxis Stadium with Northwich Victoria.

The Premier Division title of 2017–18 came with 100 points. More recently, Adam Moseley's hat-trick against Stalybridge Celtic secured the Cheshire Senior Cup in 2024–25. Two play-off final defeats either side of that, to Marine and then Workington.

Antony Kay's spell in charge lasted barely eight months from his appointment in May 2024, winning 12 of 28 games before his dismissal. Scott Bakkor's 23 goals in 2024–25.

Derby day still means Runcorn Town, while Cheshire adds Warrington and Northwich Victoria.
