«Seetal»
In September 2014, the women handball players of Rothenburg stopped playing under their own club's name.
The men's side kept the old club name, HC Rothenburg, founded in the summer of 1981, and the two paths have since run at different speeds: the men were promoted to the 1. Liga for the 2025/2026 season, while the Seetal women have stayed in the lower tiers, moving between the 1. Liga and the 2. and 3. Liga depending on the year, without a Swiss championship or cup to their name.
Both teams share the Sporthalle Lindau, a triple hall in Rothenburg finished in 2018 and known locally as the Lindauhalle. Red, black and white are the club colours, and locally the players are still called Seetaler , a nod to the valley rather than to either founding town.
Sharing a hall and a valley with Hochdorf means the closest rivalry is really a partnership turned inward.
