Spartax

João Pessoa styles itself the City of the Sun, and it is that claim of first light that Spartax borrowed for its shirt: white, red and gold standing for the sunrise over the capital of Paraíba. The name and the identity go further back, lifted from ancient Sparta, and the club calls itself Guerreiros, the Warriors.

Spartax formed on 11 November 2011, though the paperwork that gave it legal standing was not filed until December of the following year. The Paraíba Football Federation took it in as an amateur side in February 2014 and turned it professional five months later, sending it into the Campeonato Paraibano's Segunda Divisão. Its opponents have been drawn from the likes of Perilima, Sabugy, Confiança PB and Queimadense rather than any rival with a name of its own.

The one campaign the Warriors have to point to came in 2021, when Spartax won the Terceira Divisão, beating Paraíba Sport Clube in the final to earn promotion into the second tier. Home games are played at the Estádio Leonardo Vinagre da Silveira, better known locally as the Estadinho da Graça, and a 3-1 turnaround against Sabugy in the Segunda Divisão showed the club still capable of a comeback.
