Arena RCS

The **Stadion RCS Lubin** sits on a plot of land that feels wider than it looks, with the city centre district behind it and open fields stretching out to one side. The ground is small by Polish standards, but it is not a patchwork pitch surrounded by industrial estates. The surface is natural grass, an eight-thousand-square-metre rectangle grown in Bavaria and shipped north to be laid here in 2014. The grass has under-heating, which means the pitch can be used through the winter without waiting for the ground to thaw, a practical touch for a town that sits on the border of winter and spring for much of the year.

The stadium itself is still being rebuilt. Work ran through 2023 and 2024, and when it is finished the capacity will sit at 1,800, with 500 of those seats under cover. Until then, the ground is a mix of temporary stands and sections of the permanent structure, which gives the place a rather unfinished feel on matchdays. It is not a problem for the regulars; the team here is **Cuprum Lubin**, and they have a long history in the city. They do not play on this pitch every week, but they are the main tenant and they know the place well.

The complex is larger than the football pitch. To one side stand artificial surfaces for training, and inside the main building is the **Hala Widowiskowo-Sportowa RCS Lubin**, the indoor arena where local clubs train. It is a quiet place compared to the bowls of the big league grounds. There is no fanfare, no concourse to get lost in. You walk in, you find your seat, and the game starts. The grass is cut short, the lines are sharp, and the under-heating means the surface is firm even on the coldest evenings.
