Duhail Sports Hall
Doha, Qatar
Formerly: Qatar Handball Association Complex, Qatar Handball Sports Complex
Duhail Sports Hall sits on Al Samur Street in Zone 30. The building opened in September 2014, just months before the World Men's Handball Championship was held here. It was not designed as a general-purpose arena but as a venue for handball.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup brought another use: the Senegal national football team set up its base camp in the surrounding area, though the match programme itself did not call for the hall. That same year the venue hosted the IHF Super Globe, which meant a flurry of matches in a space built for one sport and now asked to do more.
The capacity is listed at 5580 seats, though another source puts the number at 5500. For the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup the hall will be renamed Duhail Arena, a temporary title that will sit alongside the older name Qatar Handball Association Complex.
