Estadio de Malabo

The Estadio de Malabo sits in the Atepa neighbourhood. The grass is natural.

The ground opened in 2007 on the site of the old national stadium, which had been demolished. The new arena was built by the French company Bouygues Construction and has a capacity of 15,250, a figure that has stayed constant since its inauguration. Matches played here included a quarter-final between Ghana and Guinea, as well as a third-place playoff. The stadium is used primarily by the Equatorial Guinea national football team and by local clubs including Sony Elá Nguema and Atlético Malabo. During the 2012 tournament, recorded attendances reached 17,000 for the match between Angola and Burkina Faso.
