Green Stadium, Awendo

The ground sits on Rongo Migori Rd in Sare, a stretch of road that runs through Awendo in Migori County. The capacity is 5,000, a figure confirmed by several sources, though one list puts it at 2,000.

What makes it different from the other stadiums in the region is what happens in the stands. It is not a place for sport alone.

For football, it is the home of SoNy Sugar F.C. Other teams have come and gone: Mara Sugar F.C. and Shabana F.C. played here when Gusii Stadium was under renovation. There are no attendance records to speak of, and the year the ground opened is not found in the sources.

It is a multipurpose arena , as the plans call it, though the name is still changing. Some want to call it the Raila Odinga International Stadium, but that name has not yet gone into use.
