Hala MOS

Hala MOS was built with 500 seats, a modest figure that suits a venue whose history is tied more to handball and basketball than to the national game.

The building has always shared its name with the community it serves. For years it was known as Hala MOSiR, the Municipal Sports and Recreation Center, a title it kept until the mid-2000s when the senior women's team of Start Elbląg moved on. The change did little to alter the character of the place. It remained a hall for local tournaments, boxing events, and concerts, but the parquet floor stayed at its heart.

There is no ceremony to the access. The entrance sits on ul. gen. Tadeusza Kościuszki 77a, a street that offers no grand approach, only the quiet reality of a town hall that does not need to shout for attention. The capacity of five hundred means that when the crowd arrives, they are close enough to hear every shout from the touchline. It is not a stadium where voices are lost in the stands; it is a room where the game is played in front of people who know the players.

The hall has seen different sports come and go. Football is now among the regulars, but the parquet floor remembers the handball matches and the basketball games that came before. It does not distinguish between them. The surface is the constant. The seating is the constant. The address is the constant. What changes is the ball and the players who chase it. The hall does not care. It opens its doors and lets the game begin.

There is no record of a single match that packed the place to the rafters. Five hundred seats do not invite crowds from beyond the city. They invite the neighbours. The history between the local teams and the hall is not written in attendance figures but in the wear on the floorboards and the familiarity of the faces in the stands. It is a place where football is one of many sports, but a sport that has found a home on a floor that has seen them all.
