Klaus-Dieter-Fischer-Halle
Bremen, Germany
Formerly: Werder-Sporthalle
The Klaus-Dieter-Fischer-Halle sits in Bremen's Östliche Vorstadt. The building is a functional sports facility.
Opened in March 2010, the hall was always intended as a home for Werder Bremen's indoor sports. It hosts basketball, handball, and table tennis.
What gives the place its name is Klaus-Dieter Fischer, who ran Werder Bremen from 2003 to 2014. The renaming came in 2014, four years after the doors first opened. The hall was originally called the Werder-Sporthalle.
Inside, the hall serves multiple purposes. Werder Bremen's table tennis team plays in the Bundesliga, their women's handball squad competes in the 2. Bundesliga, and the basketball team plays here as well.
There is a slight confusion around the address. Some sources list Hermine-Berthold-Straße 18, others say 20.
Attendance figures are haphazard. One table tennis match reportedly drew 650 spectators despite the 400-seat capacity—perhaps a special event, perhaps a counting error. Another handball game had 320 people.
