Melhushallen
Melhus, Norway
Melhushallen sits on the west side of the Gaula river in Melhus, a town that has seen its sporting infrastructure grow alongside its population. The original hall opened in 1988.
The building has weathered the storm, as many older halls have, facing the inevitable decline of its original structure. A parking house with 200 spaces was built adjacent to the original hall.
The main handball tenant, Melhus IL Håndball, competes in Norwegian leagues from this base, alongside Melhus Håndball and IL Leik, a club founded in 1894 that has persisted through decades of change.
There is also Bankhallen, an indoor football training hall with artificial turf, and the outdoor Gruva Arena for the club's outdoor games.
