Naa Sheriga Sports Complex: Stadium in Nalerigu

The Naa Sheriga Sports Complex in Nalerigu is a structure born from a specific moment in 2024, commissioned by Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia as a personal initiative for the community. This facility arrived with a standard artificial turf pitch that officials described as one of the best in the country.

For Karela United FC, the move to Nalerigu in 2024 marked a new chapter. The club relocated following the closure of the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale. The capacity remains modest at 1,000, a figure confirmed by the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation and Transfermarkt.

The complex was named immediately upon completion after the late Overlord of Mamprugu, Naa Sheriga. Construction was handled by Wembley Construction Limited. There is no official website for the venue, and no previous names to trace back through the archives; it exists simply as a new home for local sport.

It is a place built for the future, even if the past of the region is woven into its name.
