Pasvalio „Pieno žvaigždžių“ arena

The Pasvalys sports centre opened in November 2011, rising from the ground in roughly six months. The facade is dominated by large glass panels on the side wing, which reflects the sky and the surrounding trees, while the main entrance features a sign for a cafe that sits quietly beneath the club's name.

Inside the glassed structure, the facility serves multiple purposes beyond the basketball court that fills the main hall. There is a running track and a boxing hall, but it is the swimming pool complex that takes up the most space, a 25-metre indoor pool that is accessible to the wider community. The basketball arena itself seats 1,500 spectators, a number that has grown slightly since the opening ceremony attended by the Prime Minister, Andrius Kubilius. The interior is lit by natural light filtering through the high windows, and the polished floor reflects the orange cladding visible from the outside.

The ground belongs to BC Pieno žvaigždės, a club that has played in the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) since 2011. They were reduced to ten men in a match against Lietkabelis in 2014, a result that was overturned after the officials agreed the penalty was too harsh. The arena has hosted matches in driving rain when the town's other facilities were closed, and the local supporters dug in when the team faced relegation threats in 2024. The building's roof is flat and unadorned, with ventilation units visible against the blue sky, and there are no grandstands or towers to mark it as a cathedral of sport. It is simply a place where games were played, and where the players stretched the back line before the final whistle.
