Sala Sporturilor Lascăr Pană: Stadium in Baia Mare

The Sala Sporturilor Lascăr Pană is an indoor sports complex in Baia Mare, Romania. The building sits at Bulevardul Unirii nr. 14A.

Inside, the atmosphere is defined by the maple wood floor. The venue has hosted matches where the pressure was palpable, such as the 2023 Romanian Men's Handball Cup Final. Capacity has settled at 2,218 seats, a figure confirmed by the official complex website, suggesting the space has been managed carefully to fit the town's population. The interior lighting, upgraded in 2018, ensures the action remains visible even when the roof seems to close in during winter games.

Outside, the environment is quiet, a stark contrast to the noise generated during a cup final. The entrance is flanked by overgrown hedges, and the pavement shows signs of wear, indicating daily use by locals beyond just the sporting events. The complex also serves as a cultural hub, having welcomed concerts like the one by Delia in 2024, proving its versatility beyond the court. The name on the sign, honoring Lascăr Pană, the legendary handball coach, remains a constant reminder of the facility’s sporting roots.
