SK Olympic Handball Gymnasium
Seoul, South Korea
Formerly: Olympic Fencing Gymnasium, Olympic Gymnasium No. 2, SK Olympic Handball Gymnasium, Olympic Handball Gymnasium
SK Olympic Handball Gymnasium stands in Songpa-gu, tucked inside Olympic Park near Jamsil. Inside, the synthetic floor is set to international handball dimensions, with movable seating arranged tight around the court.
The building arrived as the Olympic Fencing Gymnasium for the 1988 Games, but the space it occupies today belongs to a later chapter. A substantial renovation turned it into Korea's first dedicated handball arena, and the name shifted with each sponsorship cycle — SK Olympic Handball Gymnasium, Olympic Handball Gymnasium, and now Ticketlink Live Arena. The capacity settles around 6,500 when the movable seats are in play, though the exact count wobbles depending on who is asked.
What distinguishes it is not scale but function. Where other Seoul venues host football or basketball, this one pins the sport to a single purpose. It has hosted Olympic fencing events since the late eighties and now carries SK Handball Korea League fixtures, but the original fencing heritage barely shows beneath the current layout.
Outside, the parkland frames the structure rather than competing with it. The building does not announce itself loudly — it sits quietly in the park, does its work, and waits for the next series of matches.
