Sporthalle Alte Au: Stadium in Stockerau

The Sporthalle Alte Au has not tried to be a showpiece. It opened in 1985 to give the local handball club a place to play and train. The building sits inside the Sportzentrum Alte Au complex, which also holds the outdoor Stani-Fraczyk-Arena and the Millenniumshalle from 1999.

Inside it is a three-fold gymnasium, a judo hall, a table tennis hall, and four bowling lanes. There is a restaurant and a sports pension on the premises, and a skate area tucked nearby. The hall has no separate seating capacity listed in the available records, and the floor surface is never specified, but it hosts handball league matches and table tennis tournaments.

UHC Stockerau call it home. The complex is used by approximately 50 to 55 clubs in total, and the parking lot is designed for 250 cars. The city of Stockerau manages the facility, and it has never been renamed; it has always been known as the Sporthalle Alte Au or as part of the Sportzentrum Alte Au.

The architect or construction company behind the 1985 hall is not identified.

It has been open since 1985, and it continues to host matches and events without interruption. The nearby outdoor stadium carries the name Stani-Fraczyk-Arena, but that belongs to a different space entirely.
