The voice here is not one of light and shadow, but of echo and impact. The hall at Burgstrasse 40 is built for a game where bodies collide and the ball flies faster than a spectator can blink. It is an indoor space, a box of noise.

There is a difference in the air inside the Kreuzbleichhalle. This surface is a distinct feature. It is designed for handball, the sport that began to take shape here. The dimensions are tight, a rectangle of sixty-four metres by twenty-seven.

The seating rises steeply, bringing the forty-two hundred spectators down to the level of the action.

The hall serves the local team, TSV St. Otmar, and the wider community. The city owns the space, and the city uses it.
