Süleyman Seba Sport Complex

The **BJK Süleyman Seba Spor Salonu** sits quietly in the Fulya neighbourhood of Istanbul, tucked away from the main thoroughfares. While the city is famous for its football grounds, this complex serves a different purpose entirely. It is a multi-purpose sports facility, but its heart is the indoor hall.

The building retains a simple, functional geometry. Outside, the stone facade is unadorned, punctuated by small, square windows. In front of the entrance, three oversized jersey mannequins stand on a paved plaza. They display the club’s kits: a white shirt, a black-and-white striped shirt, and a red goalkeeper’s jersey. The large letters "WHITE EAGLE" are visible on the building above them, though partially obscured by trees. The display serves as a visual marker for the club’s identity, but the ground itself feels more like a working training centre than a public spectacle.

Inside, the atmosphere shifts from the open sky to the controlled environment of an indoor arena. The floor is a polished wooden surface, replaced in recent years to meet modern standards for international play. This change allowed the venue to host matches for the men’s handball team and the wheelchair basketball squad. The seating is tight and close to the action, creating an intimate setting where every pass and shot is audible.

The complex has a history of adaptation. Originally opened in the late 1990s, it saw its basketball and volleyball departments move to a newer facility in Akatlar in 2005. This shift left the Süleyman Seba hall to focus on its current tenants. The renovation completed in 2021 updated the playing surface and facilities, ensuring the hall remains competitive for national and European competitions. It is not a place for large crowds or grand entrances, but for focused sport.
